From Misery and Disease to Health and Happiness…

I have been blessed in my life with the opportunity to work in the pharmaceutical world. This brief 6 year sojourn really opened my eyes to reality. As I was visiting my "Doctor" clients, I saw many patients in waiting rooms. What I was seeing at that time was a lot of unhappy and miserable people. It was clear that disease = misery. This awareness compelled me to do something about it!

One day, I had a thought in my mind... all I could hear was: There must be something else... we seem to be treating disease... what if we could create health!

At about the same time I was also experiencing changes in my body... my energy level was low, I had developed facial acne, my periods had stopped, I had gained weight (about 30 lbs!).  No matter how much exercise I did my weight didn’t come down.

That was when my Doctor told me my thyroid was not working well and that I should consider taking drugs to help. I knew there had to be a better way and decided to explore other options.

I Began a New Life

So a new journey began for me. One focused on creating health instead of treating disease. I started a 10 day of Vipassana meditation. This involved complete silence with no interaction and no reading or writing.

I just observed my breath and my body. It was quite amazing what happened. I came back so happy and relaxed. It felt like I had a vacation!

These experiences lead me further into yoga to explore its benefits. I started doing "Hot Yoga" and after a little while I felt I needed more technical Yoga training, and got introduced to Iyengar Yoga. I found a renewed sense of inner balance of both mind and body.

Coupled with this I had been on a raw food diet. My daily raw food intake grew to about 50%. Through studying raw foods in depth and learning from my own mind & body I had an urge to begin writing a book on health.

I Found a New Me

Within a few years I had regained health and happiness and I knew that it was not just physical. My wandering mind needed some training and discipline to learn how to become still and at ease... especially in today's world where we are often evaluated for performance and pressured for results. We can be distracted by endless wants and needs.

A move to the West coast inspired me to redefine my life. I was practicing Yoga almost everyday. Its influence in my life was and is transformational.

I did a kids Yoga training and an Iyengar Yoga training in Seattle with a certified instructor. Then I made an exciting commitment to myself and my future and travelled to Goa, India for a 1 month training. This gave me a Yoga Alliance Certification of over 200 hours training.

Now I want to share my passion for life, health of body, mind and spirit!

My understanding of Raw Foods, detoxification processes, my Yoga training and experience, all combine to provide me some powerful insights into creating health and wellness. I enjoy sharing this knowledge with others to empower them to make dramatic changes in their lives. Changes that improve more than just your physical health…
